The Plough is one of Harborne’s most popular neighbourhood restaurants, known for its welcoming atmosphere and great food, owner Adam Johnson has transformed it into a lively dining destination at the heart of the local community.

Meet the Owner – Adam
Johnson The driving force behind The Plough is Adam Johnson, who took over the venue in 2003 with a vision of creating a welcoming neighbourhood destination built around great food, drink and community. The Plough’s welcoming team and vibrant atmosphere make it the perfect place to begin — or continue — a culinary journey through Harborne.

Cuubo

Modern Cooking, Local Passion
Cuubo is an intimate neighbourhood bistro on Harborne High Street, created by chef-owner Dan Sweet. Known for his ingredient-led approach to cooking, Dan brings together modern British flavours with subtle Italian influences, focusing on seasonal produce and carefully crafted dishes.
Despite being one of Harborne’s newer restaurants, Cuubo has quickly gained recognition in Birmingham’s dining scene for its thoughtful menus and relaxed yet refined atmosphere.

Meet the Owner – Dan Sweet

A long-standing fixture on Harborne High Street, Henry Wong is one of the
neighbourhood’s most recognised and established dining destinations. Known for its refined
take on Cantonese and Hong Kong cuisine, the restaurant offers a menu that blends
traditional flavours with a modern, elegant presentation.

Meet the Team – Zi & Meng
At the heart of Henry Wong is owner Zi, whose passion for hospitality and attention to detail
has helped shape the restaurant’s continued presence within Harborne’s competitive dining
scene. Working alongside her is deputy Meng, who plays a key role in delivering the smooth,
professional service the restaurant is known for.

Mela

A Celebration of Indian & Bangladeshi Flavour

Located on Harborne High Street, Mela is a well-established neighbourhood restaurant, known for its rich and authentic Indian and Bangladeshi cuisine. The name “Mela,” derived from Sanskrit, means “a gathering” or “to meet” — a philosophy that lies at the heart of its warm and welcoming dining experience.

With a strong focus on fresh ingredients and traditional cooking techniques, Mela has built a loyal local following over the years. The menu thoughtfully combines timeless classics with modern touches, all served in a relaxed and inviting setting.

Bringing the vibrant spirit of Spain to the heart of Harborne, El Buen Gusto is a warm and welcoming independent restaurant dedicated to authentic Spanish cuisine and hospitality. Located on the bustling High Street, the venue has quickly established itself as a local favourite, known for its lively atmosphere, generous dishes and unmistakable Mediterranean charm.

Meet the Owner – Joson

At the heart of El Buen Gusto is co-founder Joson, a passionate and driven hospitality professional with a strong academic background in Hotel and Hospitality Management.

Having gained valuable experience across a range of roles within the food and hospitality sector, Joson developed a deep understanding of both the culinary and operational aspects of running a successful restaurant. His passion for cooking and commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences led him to take the entrepreneurial step of co-founding El Buen Gusto alongside three friends.

As a co-owner and operator, Joson has played a key role in building the restaurant into a thriving and respected part of Harborne’s dining scene, combining his professional expertise with a genuine passion for hospitality.
